I wanted to share an interesting survey about renters that I was reading this week.  The findings were that 20% of renters are using their full paycheck to cover their rent payments right now. 

We know that the real estate market has changed quite a bit in recent years with home values increasing significantly, mortgage rates increasing, and maintenance/upkeep costs rising along with it.  These changes translated into higher costs for Landlords that were translated to Tenants.

Many of these tenants are working a 2^nd job to cover their expenses, some stating that they are in jobs they hate to make enough money to cover rent, others leaning on family for financial support.

There has been a focus on increasing the housing supply, mostly in bigger cities at this point, however it’ll take a while before the inventory balances out.

If you are renting, it’s worth talking to a Financial Advisor or Lender about your options.  Buying a home might seem like a stretch, but it’s an investment in your future and often more achievable than you think.
