There are benefits to selling your home in the winter! First, there are always serious home buyers out there – and with less competition in the winter, you are likely to find a serious buyer. With fewer sellers right now, your home will stand out. When spring comes and the busy season begins, there will likely be a much higher number of homes for sale, which decreases the competition for yours. The holiday season can be busy – but that also means that most people have more time off from work. This can provide more time to do showings or invest in their home search. If you are going to sell in the winter, here are a few tips: 1) Keep your holiday décor to a minimum. You can definitely decorate and enjoy a Christmas tree, wreath or a few tasteful items. However, the giant Santa with 8 reindeer in your front yard might be a bit much and could take away from the welcoming feel that we want Buyers to have when they enter your home. 2) Make your home feel cozy. It’s cold outside and most of us love the inviting scents of the holidays. Maybe add a gentle vanilla scented candle. Keep the home at comfortably warm temperatures. 3) Lighting is hugely important when selling a home. It’s dark outside early in the evening, so make sure that all of your interior & exterior lights are on. If you have any dimly lit rooms, add an extra lamp. 4) Finally, make sure you keep all of your walkways and driveways clear of snow. Safety is the main reason, but it also shows how well you care for and maintain your home. First impressions are critical when selling a home.
